Qualification Structure Unit 1 Anatomy and Physiology 1½ hour Written Exam externally marked Unit 2 Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Wellbeing Synoptic Controlled Assessment externally marked Unit 3 Professional Development in the Sports Industry Coursework internally assessed Unit 4 Sports Leadership Coursework internally assessed Unit 5 Application of Fitness Testing Coursework internally assessed Unit 6 Sports Psychology Coursework internally assessed Unit 7 Practical Sports Performance Coursework internally assessed Grading Assessment is graded as PASS, MERIT, DISTINCTION and DISTINCTION*. A Merit is equivalent to Grade C, Distinction equates to an A Grade and Distinction* to an A* Grade at A Level. Our ambitious, challenging and stimulating BTEC Sport course develops knowledge and understanding of a range of factors that contribute to high-performance sport. We teach beyond the syllabus and encourage students to draw on their own sporting experiences when completing assessments or participating in inspiring vocational opportunities. The course offers students the opportunity to complete external exams, internal assignments, and practical assessments. Many of our students progress to top universities to study sport-related degrees as well as other non-sport related fields. Previous students have also transitioned into high- performance sporting environments to pursue a career in professional sport.
