Page | 13 Exceptions to this rule: • Year 12 and Year 13 students may use mobile phones if they go off site at lunchtime. • Year 13 may use their mobile phone in the Mezzanine for work purposes only. If they are used for any other purpose or at any other time, they will be confiscated. Your son is responsible for his own equipment and the School will not accept responsibility for any loss, theft or damage of such equipment. Small lockers, which are suitable for storing laptops, iPads or tablets, are available for Sixth Form students to rent on an annual basis by booking directly with ILS Locker Solutions from 6th July 2021 (www.ilsschools.co.uk) The School may be able to help with the cost of a locker if you feel unable to take advantage of this scheme due to financial constraints. If this is the case please contact our Sixth Form Administrator, in confidence, at sjw@rgshw,com. Much of the information in this booklet is part of the School Rules and the Sixth Form Agreement, which all pupils sign when they join the Sixth Form. The School Rules and all relevant policies are available for students on the VLE under ‘Pupil Links’ and also on the school website. We expect your son to read and adhere to these rules and policies. 7 Laptops, iPads and Tablets Sixth Formers are expected to have access to a digital device in all lessons. This may be their own laptop, iPad or tablet. Use is at the discretion/request of the teacher. Students are not allowed to access their phones during lessons. Year 13 may use their phones for work purposes only in the Mezzanine. Students are also expected to be able to access homework set electronically and communication sent via their School email address. The guidance and rules indicated in the School’s “Acceptable Use of ICT Systems and Learning Gateway Policy” also apply to the use of laptops, iPads and tablets. There are no facilities at School for charging devices and your son should charge this equipment at home. If he uses his own laptop, iPad or tablet in School, he must use the school Wi-Fi. We would also wish to stress that it is vital that your son maintains the ability to write quickly as this is the way they are examined.
