Year 10

English

When I first arrived at the RGSHW I was genuinely indifferent about studying English as I had never particularly enjoyed it at my last school. How wrong could I have been! My Year 7 teacher was inspiring, fun and helpful. English isn’t just about being given something to write and being told to get on with it – instead, most of the lessons involve analysing how to improve your work and the critical things to avoid. I have loved the opportunity to discuss my work as it develops, and to receive really honest feedback along the way – good and bad! I’ve loved the creative writing and, surprisingly enough, analysing poems – trust me, it’s fun once you get into it.  I know everyone says this to you all the time, but if you genuinely try your hardest, you can’t help but enjoy English at the RGS.
