Since its launch in 2021, we have successfully run the Arts Award programme for pupils who share a passion for the arts. Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification, supporting anyone aged up to 25 to grow as artists and creative leaders. At RGS the Arts Award and DofE work closely together. It is also worth noting that the completion of Arts Award will cover the skills section of DofE. Arts Award inspires young people to grow their arts and leadership talents: it's creative, valuable, and accessible. Trinity College London manages Arts Award, in association with Arts Council England.

Bronze Arts Award 
Bronze Arts Award is a Level 1 qualification on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and is open to Year 8 and 9 pupils. The qualification is working at the same standard as GCSE grades 3–1.

Silver Arts Award 
Silver Arts Award is a Level 2 qualification on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). The same standard as GCSE grades 9–4. It is open for pupils in Year 10 and above. 

Gold Arts Award
The final stage in the Arts Award journey is Gold Arts Award. This qualification is working at the same standard as an A level. Gold Arts Award is a Level 3 qualification on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and is designed for A-Level pupils. The award has 16 points on the UCAS tariff. 

Each qualification aims to encourages independence, commitment, leadership, and teamwork through being involved in a personalised programme of afterschool art-based activities, whilst learning new skills and helping to increase confidence. The School fully supports the Award, recognizing its unique value for developing skills and attributes in RGS pupils

The Arts Award is a scheme set up to provide valuable educational insight into the importance of, and the different functions within the art industry. The most recent trip associated with the Arts Award was made available to both Year 8 and 9 and allowed us to visit the Warner Bros Harry Potter Studios! During our day, we learnt about a multitude of diverse jobs the industry can offer, varying from the obvious roles as directors, producers, and animators, to the less frequently heard of titles such as set designers, music producers, and the special effects and makeup teams. The trip enabled me to learn about the quantity of different components that are required to create a film – and therefore, why it always seems to take so long!
