See you again soon

It has been a pleasure to spend the last seven years with you all, and I wish you the best of luck for the future!

Dear Leavers

Sitting down to write this note feels quite surreal, as it's finally dawning on me that our time at RGS is drawing to a close. And what an incredible, unique and eventful seven years we’ve had.

September 2017 feels like a distant memory for many of us I'm sure, joining in Year 7 as both arrogant and naive. Of course, one day of being dominated in the canteen queue and we were rightfully put in our place. Weeks later, we were still holding our school maps clueless, with rucksacks that were far too big for us. To this day, we are making the same silly jokes which we have been making over the last seven years (despite having supposedly matured).

There have been many tough times over the years, and the fact that you’re here is a testament to your hard work and perseverance. The societies we started will out live us, and our legacy in sport, music and drama will last at RGS forever. We’ve had the opportunity to flourish in whatever we pleased, becoming not only good students but great individuals.

In years to come, I'm sure that you'll look back through the Leavers book with fond memories of the time we spent together. I'm equally sure that you'll be horrified by the haircuts and quotes that have haunted some of us since the beginning of our RGS experience (I definitely am). Nonetheless, whilst we are all looking ahead with excitement, I hope you remember that the bonds made here are with you for life. We have formed some of the closest friendship groups ever, and we should endeavour to keep them alive.

It has been a pleasure to spend the last seven years with you all, and I wish you the best of luck for the future!

See you again soon,

Huw Davies
