School Life

School Life

RGS has so much more to offer than just facilitating academic progression. Every boy at RGS is encouraged to take part in activities outside the academic curriculum, each is an opportunity to develop an interest, excel with a particular talent and, above all, have fun.

Boys are given the opportunity to develop and explore themselves as individuals, with a vast range of co-curricular activities always available to support them in their self-discovery. Clubs, societies, trips, competitive sport, an extensive musical programme and regular drama productions are just the beginning of how the School supports students in any interests they may have.

A culture of care and belonging

Our school is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every student feels valued, respected, and empowered. We prioritise mental health and wellbeing throughout the curriculum, co-curricular activities, and pastoral care. Our dedicated team of counsellors, teachers, and support staff are always available to provide guidance and assistance.

Comprehensive Programme and Initiatives

  • Heritage Week: This annual event celebrates the school’s rich diversity so that students can develop a greater appreciation of their own heritage and the heritage of others.
  • Action Your Potential Workshops: These workshops, led by neuroscientists, equip students with practical tools for building essential daily habits. Topics include learning skills, unleashing potential, mind management and managing relationships.
  • Counselling Services: Our experienced counsellors offer individual and group counselling sessions to address a wide range of mental health concerns.

Character Development

Character Development is an integral part of our educational philosophy. We believe that by nurturing positive character traits, we can equip students with the tools to navigate challenges, build strong relationships and make ethical decisions. Our comprehensive character development framework, based around our core values of respect, integrity and aspiration emphasises personal agency, positive action and the development of moral, civic, intellectual and performance character.

Supporting every Student

We feel passionately that no student should be at a disadvantage and are committed to providing support for all students, irrespective of their individual needs. Our Special Educational Needs Department offers tailored support for students with special educational needs, ensuring they have the resources and accommodations they require to succeed. We also provide support for disadvantaged learners and a variety of student groups, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. We believe that mental health and wellbeing are essential for a fulfilling and successful life. Our comprehensive approach, coupled with our commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive community, equips our students with the knowledge, skills and character to thrive academically and personally. We are proud of our achievements in this area and remain dedicated to providing the highest quality mental health and wellbeing support to our students.
