A Message From the Head Boy
As a Year 12, your day will start with your form group, a mix of Year 12's and 13's, brought together based on subject interests. You’ll have the opportunity to bounce questions off older students, chat with your tutor and learn about important topical issues. Over your time in sixth form, your tutor will help you with any worries or concerns and give you one to one support with your university applications.
You will quickly learn about the RGS 360 award, which aims to help you establish yourself as a well-rounded member of the sixth form. As part of the award, you will be encouraged to take on leadership, such as the various prefect positions throughout the school, and to carry out research or wider reading to expand your subject knowledge.
A fantastic careers department and tailored lecture series will help discover a broad range of career options and teach you about life after RGS. From paying to tax, to nutrition, you’ll discover everything coming your way over the next ten years.
After lessons, or study in the new sixth form centre, there are over 70 extra-curricular clubs and activities for you to make the most of. I encourage you to get stuck in. You’ll get to know your year and pick up some new skills. Many societies, like politics or engineering society are student lead, by members of the sixth form. This gives you another opportunity to dive deeper into your interests and to develop your organisational and time management skills.
There’s something for everyone at the RGS and I’m sure you’ll thoroughly enjoy your time here.
