Recreational Sport

Badminton
These sessions are held throughout the year in the Sports Hall and are designed for students to play recreationally during break time. No prior experience is required, but students should be looking to develop their sportsmanship, skills, and game understanding through free play.  

Basketball 
These sessions are held throughout the year in the Sports Hall and are designed for students to play recreational cross-court basketball during lunchtime. No prior experience is required, but students should be looking to develop their sportsmanship, skills, and game
understanding through free play. 

Cross Country
These sessions are delivered by the Head of Cross Country and will help develop the key skills and understanding to perform middle distance running both recreationally and in a competitive environment. The Cross-Country fixture list consists of local races and entering National Competitions.

These sessions take place during lunch times in the first two terms outside on our pitches and are designed for students who aspire to represent RGS in Cross Country or would like to develop their running skills.

Dart Karate
These sessions are held throughout the year in our Sports Hall and are designed for students who would like to learn more about self-defence and the discipline of mix martial arts.

Fives
These sessions take place throughout the year on our Fives courts and are designed for students to play recreationally during break and lunchtime. No prior experience is required, but students should be looking to develop their sportsmanship, skills, and game understanding through free play. 

Tennis
These sessions take place in the summer term on our Astro and are designed for students to play recreationally after school. No prior experience is required, but students should be looking to develop their sportsmanship, skills, and game understanding through free play.  

Multi-Activity
These sessions are predominantly held in the Sports Hall throughout the year and are designed for students who would like to increase their physical activity levels and are currently not attending any sport or physical activity club at RGS. We can be flexible on what we offer in this session; for example, dodgeball, volleyball, capture the flag as well as any other student suggestions!

Gym
These sessions take place throughout the year in our gym and are designed for students in Year 9 and above who would like to increase their physical activity levels and develop the motivation, confidence, and competency of doing so within a gym environment.
